Determining the market value of a collectible is a thorough and comprehensive process that relies on two main pillars.
First, Timeless conducts an in-depth in-house screening. This involves analyzing both realized transactions and current asking prices to obtain a comprehensive picture of the market. The screening process is designed to take into account the unique characteristics of each collectible category. Because many of these objects are so rare, Timeless also includes similar collectibles in the valuations. Realized transactions are valued higher than bid prices in order to provide a realistic and reliable value judgment.
In addition to the internal valuation, a network of external curators is consulted. These experts verify market prices or make recommendations for adjustments where necessary, adding another level of verification and certainty. In individual cases, experts are also commissioned to determine the authenticity and value of individual collectibles (cars, works of art) if this is additionally necessary.
To ensure the relevance and timeliness of the valuations, data from the current and previous quarter is used. This allows for quick adjustment to market changes and trends. However, Timeless is aware of the fact that the determination of market value, especially for single items, cannot always be absolutely precise and has certain limitations.
